Process
Manual Lead Qualification
Human-driven research and evaluation of each prospect to determine fit before outreach.
What is Manual Lead Qualification?
Manual lead qualification is the process of having a human researcher evaluate each prospect individually before any outreach happens. Unlike bulk lead scoring (which assigns points based on data fields), manual qualification involves actual research into the company, the decision-maker, and the timing.
Why Manual Beats Volume-Based Approaches
Volume-based systems check boxes. Manual research reads context.
| Factor | Volume-Based | Manual |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Thousands per hour | 50-100 per day |
| Accuracy | 15-25% fit rate | 70-85% fit rate |
| Personalization | Template variables | Genuine relevance |
| Reply rate | 1-3% | 8-15% |
| Meeting quality | Mixed | Consistently qualified |
The math is clear: 50 manually qualified prospects with a 12% reply rate (6 replies) outperform 1,000 volume-sourced prospects with a 2% reply rate (20 replies of which maybe 4 are actually qualified).
// QUALIFICATION CHECKLIST
step_1: does this company match the ICP?
step_2: is there a buying intent signal present?
step_3: is the contact a decision-maker or influencer?
step_4: is there a relevant angle for personalization?
pass_rate: ~40% of initial list survives qualification
How I Handle Qualification
Every prospect goes through a 4-step manual review before they enter an outreach sequence. This is the most time-intensive part of my process and the reason my clients get meetings with actual decision-makers, not junior employees who cannot sign contracts.
