Personalization at Scale
The ability to deliver individually tailored outreach messages while maintaining consistent volume.
What is Personalization at Scale?
Personalization at scale is the holy grail of B2B outbound: delivering messages that feel individually crafted while maintaining enough volume to fill a pipeline. Most companies sacrifice one for the other , they either send personalized messages to 20 people or generic templates to 2,000.
The Personalization Spectrum
| Level | Example | Reply Rate | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | "Hi {first_name}, I help companies like yours..." | 1-2% | Unlimited |
| Light | "Hi {first_name}, I noticed {company} is hiring..." | 3-5% | High |
| Medium | References specific content, role, or company news | 8-12% | Medium |
| Deep | Individually researched, unique message per prospect | 15-25% | Low |
Why "Personalization" Usually Fails
Most "personalized" outreach is just variable insertion. Replacing {company_name} and {job_title} in a template is not personalization. Prospects see through it immediately. Real personalization requires:
- Reading the prospect's recent posts
- Understanding their company's current challenges
- Referencing specific, verifiable details
- Connecting your solution to their specific context
// THE PERSONALIZATION TEST
if_you_could_send_the_same_message_to_100_people: it is not personalized
if_only_one_person_would_understand_the_reference: it is personalized
sent_standard: every message passes this test
How I Solve the Scale Problem
I use a team of trained human researchers who qualify prospects AND craft personalized messages. This is more expensive than volume-based alternatives but produces 5-8x higher reply rates. The math works: 50 deeply personalized messages generating 8 replies beats 500 templated messages generating 5 replies.
