Follow-Up Sequence

A structured series of messages sent after initial outreach to nurture prospects toward a conversation.

What is a Follow-Up Sequence?

A follow-up sequence is the planned series of messages sent after your initial outreach goes unanswered. In B2B outbound, 80% of meetings are booked on the follow-up, not the first message. A structured sequence ensures you stay persistent without becoming annoying.

The Anatomy of an Effective Follow-Up Sequence

Message 1: Initial Outreach (Day 0)

Personalized, research-driven message that addresses a specific pain point or references a buying signal.

Message 2: Value Add (Day 3-5)

Share something useful , an insight, a relevant case study, or a data point. No pitch repetition.

Message 3: Different Angle (Day 8-10)

Approach the conversation from a new perspective. If Message 1 was about their challenge, Message 3 could reference a competitor or industry trend.

Message 4: Breakup (Day 14-18)

Acknowledge the silence, offer one final piece of value, and close the loop gracefully.

// FOLLOW-UP STATISTICS

meetings_from_message_1: 20% of total

meetings_from_messages_2-3: 55% of total

meetings_from_message_4: 25% of total

conclusion: most outbound fails because people stop after message 1

My Follow-Up Philosophy

Every SENT follow-up is manually written based on the prospect's latest activity. If they posted new content, I reference it. If their company announced something, I tie it in. My follow-ups are not "just checking in" , they add value every time.
